The Earth Biogenome Project (EBP) aims to map the DNA for all animals, plants, birds, fish, fungi, algae and eukaryotes on Earth. Norway has recently established a national board, EBP-Nor, and Simen Rød Sandve, Associate professor at CIGENE is one of the board members. The Norwegian Research Council and UiO has provided funding to plan a pre-project, as a pilot to select a few species as foundation for further research.
