New opinion piece from CIGENE’s Simen Rød Sandve published on Dagens Næringsliv

A new opinion piece was recently published on the website of the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, co-authored by CIGENE’s Simen Rød Sandve (alongside NMBU colleague Ida Beitnes Johansen).

The article is published in Norwegian, and focuses on the risks associated with poor fish welfare in farmed salmon in Norway; with implications for fish farming on a global scale. Indeed, as stated in the article, it is thought that worldwide approximately 50 million salmon have died from disease and poor welfare during 2023.

The article also highlights research at NMBU that points towards more natural water temperatures and light conditions improving heart health and overall survival in farmed salmon.

You can read the article in full on the Dagens Næringsliv website.
