Last month, the 5th International conference on Integrative Salmonid Biology took place in Seattle, USA (11-14 March 2024). The conference was attended by CIGENE members Sigbjørn Lien, Kristina Stenløkk and Domniki Manousi, all of whom presented recent research from the centre.
Sigbjørn opened the conference as first invited speaker, with a talk titled “Towards complete chromosome sequences and pan-genomic resources for salmonids”. Kristina also presented during this first session of the conference (presentation title: “Pan-genomics reveals hidden genomic variation in Atlantic salmon”).
Domniki gave a flash talk on the final day of the conference (see photo above), with a presentation covering her PhD work titled “Investigating the genetic basis underlying response against salmonid alphavirus in Atlantic salmon”. This led to Domniki being awarded a prize for best talk, so we congratulate Domniki on a great job!
