
The 15th edition of the International Symposium on Genetics in Aquaculture (ISGA XV) took place in Cadiz, Spain from 11-17 May 2025, and CIGENE was represented by PhD students Prabin Sharma-Humagain and Valeria Aguilar Quiñones.
ISGA is a prestigious conference dedicated to genetics and genomics in aquaculture, and gathers researchers working at the forefront of aquaculture research and cutting-edge genomic technologies. The topics covered include biotechnology, functional genomics and transcriptomics, genomic prediction, quantitative genetics and selective breeding, disease and stress genetics, genomes and gene editing, and more.
Prabin presented ongoing work in the PETRI-fish project during his talk titled ‘Optimization of lentiviral transduction in Atlantic salmon cells’. You can read more about the PETRI fish project in our featured research article.
Valeria, whose PhD project is a collaborative effort between CIGENE and Aquagen, presented a poster titled ‘Development of GECKO screening tools in Atlantic Salmon’.
